Gay men in Africa are blaming President Trump's decision to cut funding for HIV/AIDS prevention for their diagnoses of the virus.

The administration's sweeping cuts to foreign aid have reduced access to medications like Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, which decreases the risk of contracting HIV by 99 percent.

Emmanuel Cherem, 25, a gay men in Nigeria, told Reuters that he tested positive for HIV two months after losing access to the US-supplied drug.

'I blame myself... Taking care of myself is my first duty as a person,' he said.

'I equally blame the Trump administration because, you know, these things were available, and then, without prior notice, these things were cut off.'

No one made them go out and have sex with an infected person. They did that on their own.

Why aren't they being taught? I mean, a lot of them are on the internet :D
Just because someone’s on the internet doesn’t mean they are accessing the “correct” information. Just look at all the online communities dedicated to believing conspiracy theories and weird medical myths like EMF sensitivity.

Its possible they dont have access to that information.

They learned pretty quick about how to contract Ebola in many African countries just by seeing other people get it and pass away from it. If they saw you had symptoms, they back off pretty quick because they know it can kill them.

People in the dark ages over in the UK learned by word of mouth on how to get syphilis. They didn't need the Internet or media to teach them. We have sex education, the CDC & the news here in the US & Canada warning us about Covid & HIV and people still blatantly disregarde the warnings, went out & got infected anyway.

Point is, people talk. Communities warn their people when something nasty is going on. It's just that, not everyone listens.

You have to also consider how much false information is being spread by actors working for Russia and China.

Even in the US, you have a politician in a TV commercial saying that Trump is going to take away the healthcare of US Citizens.

While there is a speck of truth to it, it isn't the panic button pushing hysteria she is provoking in the ad.
