What makes them seem unhappy?

Plenty of them! I've also met plenty of charming, friendly older people. I suppose they're grumpy because as a society we don't treat the elderly with much care, a lot of them are forgotten about or treated like a burden. It can't feel good to be seen like that!

Let them be grumpy. It's the nursing home's job to put up with them. 😂

All the time at my first job. Not every old person/elderly person is a sweet kind old man or woman. I dunno what makes them grumpy outside of prices, coupons not working, etc.

I think the older people get the more opinionated they get. Also they're in pain. So yeah, a recipe for grumpiness.

The pandemic made them all anti-social and socially awkward. They don't know how to be people.
