UK news:- The murder of Chris Kaba caused the firearms officer to be blamed for having given an autistic person a gun. This led to many police officers involved in the counter-terrorism efforts to hand in their guns en masse last week, but some resumed their jobs as usual on Monday claiming this was “after a think”. Therefore the military are no longer needed as there’s said to be adequate police officers countering terrorism.
For obvious reasons, police officers are not entitled to strike action. It is debatable whether or not this was intended as industrial action in disguise, or police officers were sincere in their motives or questioning the morality of holding guns and whether or not the law is on their sides. Some officers have left due to questioning the value of their jobs balanced against the risk that they may get caught up in legal proceedings, even if they comply with all their training and instructions.
