Always change your pass after a security breach. Doesn't matter if you don't use that password anywhere else, it's good practice.

Not a specific hack at all for Off Topix.

They hit over half a dozen forums last evening.

They are just some credit card frauders looking for people to buy their recent databases back hoping that no one has any recent backs ups kept.

Also who is your host? They may have a rewind feature? I screwed my site up once, didn't have a back up. Thankfully in the panel they had a rewind for the database and file system.

One good thing happened as a result of the hack.

It inspired me to go out and do an FTP backup of both websites.

All new material (from the last six months or so) downloaded and then copied to a flash drive.

The next time I'm out, I'll pick up the 'off site storage' and copy the stuff to it as well, then take it back where it hides.

As a security measure, I went ahead and updated the forum to the latest version of MyBB.  We have no plugins installed at the moment and we probably need some new themes, we are under construction.  You can still get involved in conversations though!

As a security measure, I went ahead and updated the forum to the latest version of MyBB.  We have no plugins installed at the moment and we probably need some new themes, we are under construction.  You can still get involved in conversations though!

I missed you for the couple hours, I constantly refreshed Off Topix's page.

I think I have grey hair now.

MyBB forums are always getting hacked. That's why I went with phpBB. You don't see threads about phpBB getting hacked as often as MyBB. But that's more personal taste.

Well, now I'm getting curious about this. Most of the forums I've heard that have been hacked have been a result of administrator's giving out admin information, but that's obviously not been the case here. Is there any chance it was plugin based?

To be honest, I really love the new look of Off Topix though. This is way better than the last skin that was used, by leaps and bounds.
