Has anyone here ever had a close encounter with a wild animal? Maybe while hiking, camping, or even in your own backyard? Whether it was a bear, a snake, or something unexpected, I’d love to hear your stories. How did you react, and how did it all turn out?

I was lunged at by a wild snake in the hilly terrain around the city of Tandil.

Poor thing was already severely hurt because it had been run over by a bike or something. I think it was just reacting to seeing me get close to investigate.

It died shortly thereafter.

Growing up in the countryside, I had my fair share of wild encounters.
I was attacked by a snake, came almost face to face with a wolf, and even got chased by dogs, if that counts.

There were plenty of other experiences too, adding to the excitement of rural life

I've never been attacked by anything but I had an encounter one time when I was photographing auroras. I was out in the middle of nowhere at this little country church in the middle of the night by myself. I would occasionally hear cows from a nearby farm. I was happily taking pictures when all of a sudden I hear this unearthly howling/barking sound from the field across the road.

It was pitch dark and I couldn't see a thing across the road. I shone my flashlight but it wasn't bright enough to be effective. Did I pack up my gear and run for my life? Absolutely not! I didn't seem to be in any immediate danger so I just kept taking pictures and every so often I'd hear it again. I was a bit on edge about it but eventually it moved away and I relaxed a bit. Then it came back, but soon moved away again in the other direction. At that point I was basically done with my photography so I packed up and headed home. About a mile from the church something darted across the road in my headlights and a light bulb went off in my head. When I got home I Googled and sure enough, it had been a fox. So now I know what a fox sounds like.

No. I've never been attacked by a wild animal. But I have been attacked by a feral cat who clawed up the back of my legs when I was a kid.
