Have you ever left in the middle of a date?

Yup, yup. Years ago when I was 25YO. Met a guy on a blind date. He showed up at my door, all plaid-shirted, short-sleeved, scrawny, four-eyed, socially-inept nerd and geek of him. After an hour-and-a-half of awkward silences and stilted attempts at conversation (all initiated by me), I finally told him, "This isn't working; this is really uncomfortable. Best of luck to you!" and I walked away. Most empowering moment of my life (up until that point).

Later, that same night and at the same place, I met a guy I ended up being with for 5 years, so something GOOD did come of it.

Several years ago I went on a date to a fancy restaurant. The guy and I were really hitting it off. He was funny and we had a lot in common. Well, except for one thing. Halfway through dinner, he looked up and said "Oh shit." I asked him what was wrong. He said: "My wife just walked in. She must have seen my car. I thought she wouldn't be home from her trip until tomorrow." I eased my chair back, stood up and headed for the door. As I was headed for the door, she was headed for the table where he was still sitting.

Busted and date over!

I was very happy that I had decided to meet him at the restaurant so I hopped in my car and drove off.
