Threads is one of newest social media platforms launched by Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook and Instagram. Threads is meant to be a competition for Twitter.

Have you heard about Threads? Do you plan on joining the platform?

Never heard of it.
I am not surprised, it only came out last week. I have joined but I mostly just lurk. I haven't created any threads? Not even sure what you would call it. I did reply to a few comments though. I never really tweeted on twitter either though. It amazes me how people can be so open with their opinions without worrying about how they will be perceived. 😅😅

Interesting, I'll have to check it out.

Yeah some people have no filter and are proud of it. I know plenty of people like that IRL.

It isn't even just the filter. Some people share the most inane and stupid things. But then we also have a coworker at my work who I am pretty certain has never had a thought that they didn't say out loud. 😬😬

No, and I don't intend to - for the same reason that I don't use Twitter.

I have no interest in "microblogging": it discourages nuanced and well-thought-out discussion, in favour of overly-reductive soundbites. I'll just stick with forums instead!

I have heard of it but if it's anything like Twitter, I won't be joining.

Me neither. I quit Facebook back in 2013/2014 because I felt it was too invasive and toxic.
I keep it for "family"....I guess. Only real person I talk to is my husband. But yeah, it's toxic. People can argue about anything even the color of a banana.

Nope.. I am on Pinterest, Houzz and Insta for pretty much all the same reason.. interior design inspiration.. and that is enough for me. I like it because it is lurker friendly and I use an alias that isnt linked to any of my other online or forum accounts so that I dont have to worry about the algorithm suggesting my family and friends who use it..

I used to use Twitter for news, and still do but the only people I follow are trusted journalists and news orgs.. and if they have never gotten a Pulitizer or Peabody award then I dont read their news content. I haven't followed anyone new since Musk took over, so my activity there is pretty much limited to people I follow and have lists for..

Lol I know a few like that too.

Just researched it and it's not for me.

No, since I have no interest in it and I also wouldn't trust it to not turn into garbage eventually since that's what happened with Facebook.

I use it, it's much better than Twitter IMO. I don't get online much and not everyone I know uses it so I only followed six people and that's it. I don't think it's really going to gain traction any time soon.
