Does it matter if you buy a high end one or use a cheap one?

Gold or silver? Does either perform better?

I've found that an HDMI cable is an HDMI cable, spending more for a gold one wont make much of a difference. I do have gold, high speed cables and the picture/sound quality feels the same. It might be slightly better but not enough to notice a huge difference. What do you think?

Its rumored that the gold ones are corrosion resistant and produce a faster and cleaner transfer. I have both kinds and they both do the same thing and have the same results, at least from what I can tell. :dontknow:

Differences might not be noticeable at first, but they might start to surface in the long run, after an extended period of use.

In a hostile environment, or for professional grade high draw systems, gold may pay off over time.

The main difference with 'el-cheapo' cables and better quality ones is shielding to keep outside interference out of the picture (pun? what pun?), and how securely the jacks are connected to the cable.

If it comes apart in your hands the first time you have to unplug it to move something, it's hardly worth buying.
