My computer is running Windows XP. This morning when I logged on I got this message: The main .idx for AOL database file is damaged. Please insert AOL disc for recovery. I was running AOL 9.1.

I received an new upgrade disc for AOL 9.5. I installed this and everything seemed okay at first. NOW everytime I try to post I get this message: A runtime error has occured. Do you wish to debug? Each message has a different error line number in it.

Can anyone help me find out why this is happening? Needless to say, it's driving me nuts!

Thank you in advance!

I don't use AOL so I wouldn't know anything about it

I look on the internet for you and found this

There are two settings in AOL.

From the Toolbar:

Settings > Internet (Web) Options > Internet Explorer Settings > Advanced > Scroll down to Browsing > Check Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable script debugging (Other).

From http://bytes.com/topic/desktop-software/answers/541312-aol-runtime-error

I don't know if it'll be any help or not.

Thank you Dragon but it didn't work. I'm now downloading some debugging software. Ugh.....I love computers when they work right but when they don't

I know XD Can't live with 'em but can't live without them XD Sorry that it didn't work, and I hope that this debugging stuff does. If not you can take the anger out on a poor help desk clerk

Thank you again Dragon. I hope the download works because I don't feel like being on hold for an hour and then talking to someone who doesn't speak English.

Nothing is working to get rid of that message

Throw it out the window XD (joking)

You're best bet, even though it's the worst, is asking someone at the customer service about it.

Try uninstalling AOL, then reinstall the latest version you're wanting to install.

Thank you and I just did that so now I'll just wait and see what happens now.

All is good now and thanks for asking Sci!
