What was the thing you hated most about high school?

For me it was being bullied and excluded from both school and social activities. I wasn't asked to go to the Senior Prom because no one wanted to be seen with 'the trailer trash girl' as they used to call me.

If I could thank my bullies right now, I would. They made me a much stronger person. They made me prove to MYSELF that I wasn't some 'trailer trash girl'. I was someone on a mission to dedicate myself to helping others. That mission is being accomplished every day, So, yeah, I have them to thank.

Aww, that is terrible! ....but its great that you used a negative experience and turned it into a positive thing! :)

I just didn't really like the people. Kids are kids, and there are cliques and people you're not going to get along with. I was sort of an outcast, but I was also a bit of a wallflower in that I never truly recall being bullied. I wasn't the butt of any jokes, and I can't pinpoint anyone who made fun of me or harassed me during my time in high school. I think I was more invisible, and the friends I did have who had the guts to speak up were the one's who got the backlash. xD

I'm in my first year of high school and this is the biggest problem I've experienced this far. There's been a lot of group activities in my classes lately and the teacher always has to make somebody join in with me, because nobody likes me. Honestly though, it does not bother me, as I couldn't care less what others think. I just go to school and do what I need to do. The people there don't matter.

Not there yet. But i'm NOT excited. Still in eighth grade.

I hope you have fun and enjoy your high school years. I mean, I know you can't and don't know it now, but when you get into your 20s, out of college or whatever it is you do, even if it's just straight to the workforce, you're going to one day say you wish you could go back in time and have less responsibility. xD Just enjoy school, don't worry too much about the people there because they're going through shit of their own, and if some people take it out on you--ignore them! :3

How disciplined it was.

(most) of you americans are lucky with your lack of uniform. in my school if you had your top button of your shirt unbuttoned? after school detention. your tie wasn't the right length? after school detention. your blazer/suit jacket wasn't anywhere to be found? after school detention. Were you wearing dress shoes or sporty black trainers? after school detention.

Just a few of the examples, and really, a few.

Once you get to the age of 16-17-18 the teachers relax a bit with you though.

Depends on where you are. There are plenty of schools here in America that require uniforms. Many of the children I tutor go to schools that require uniforms, and they give the kids little options as to how they can be worn. In public schools, it's quite obviously a little different in terms of what you can and can't wear, but there are rules to avoid allowing students to be too sexualized/showing off profanity/gang signs and or other things.

I graduated in 1979.

From what I remember from high school, if you showed up, at least most of the time, and occasionally turned in something with your name on it, or were on one of the sports teams, You Passed, and then, You Graduated.

Any educational activities almost happened by accident.

I only remember a couple of classes where anything that could be called "teaching" happened.

And from what I hear from some current students in the same school, that is still true for the most part.

Well we had a dress code, but you could get away with wearing almost any thing. It was mainly to prevent obscene t-shirts and girls wearing skimpy clothes.

A couple schools I used to go to have uniforms now, but they didn't back in the day.

That is unfortunately true in a lot of places, for many, many reasons that I can't say for certain why. As an educator myself, being in the system and then going through the process of learning to go behind the scenes, it depends on a lot of factors. Fortunately, I went to schools where I feel like I got an education and the teachers--for the most part--were there to teach the kids because they wanted to and actually loved it. Of course, there were the few who most definitely didn't give a shit, but I was lucky enough to be in places where the community appreciated education.

I'm in my first year of high school and this is the biggest problem I've experienced this far. There's been a lot of group activities in my classes lately and the teacher always has to make somebody join in with me, because nobody likes me.

When I started high school in 2009, this was one of the factors that made it one of the worst years of my life. I remember on March 25th 2010, when I was playing CoD 4 multiplayer with some pricks who thought they were better than anyone else (including me) and ended up calling me a pussy. I was completely irritated afterwards and cried (yes I did) when I was telling my high school's guidance counselor about it.

Then the food. In 2012 they worsened that situation. They even asked us for our high school ID's just to eat food that repeated constantly. As I said in the School Cafeteria thread, it started to get boring and refused to eat that food until September back in 2012 and last year, when the alternate cafeteria, where they gave us 'real' food and not the same crap every 5-6 school days, had some spaces for lucky students who went to that one on time.

Adding to the first factor: June-November 2013 repeated what I lived in 2003 in a similar way. Issues with a girl who apparently was (and STILL is, after a year of that misery) VERY afraid of maintaining contact with most people. I highly doubt she'll end up like the first one, finding a way to re-establish some communication with me. (Will have to investigate about it in late 2016 though.)

After saying all this, I can conclude that I had a bad start and end of high school. At least I didn't get excluded from the activities last year (and that included the Senior Prom), because some people DO know that I'm somewhat unable to be understood the right way. One of them is at the college I'm in and was able to see me again last week, which was good.

well... the for the first couple of years I went to an all boys school and with no specifics I just did not belong there. I did not fit in at all and hated every day and no matter how hard I tried to belong I didn't.

I felt alone, like a loser and unliked by anyone.

But the mind of a young teenager is a funny thing and does not see the world clearly as years later I found that when I switched schools without telling anyone that there were a number of people who in fact really liked me, missed me and wondered where I went.

However, the second school I went to was fantastic and I love it.

Hi Friends,

When I am in school I feel bore with English class, the teacher I does not like. The result is no English stuff with me.

Hi Friends,

I had my High School days in the year 1962 to 1968. But In last year means 1967-68, I am avoiding classes and going to matinee show for English and Hindi movies.
