NEW YORK – The homeless man lay face down, unmoving, on the sidewalk outside an apartment building, blood from knife wounds pooling underneath his body.

One person passed by in the early morning. Then another, and another. Video footage from a surveillance camera shows at least seven people going by, some turning their heads to look, others stopping to gawk. One even lifted the homeless man's body, exposing what appeared to be blood on the sidewalk underneath him, before walking away.

Very very sad. I cant believe it took so long for someone to at least call an ambulance.

What gets me is that the people who walked by the poor man would expect to be helped as soon as they were in trouble.

This is a very sad story and that's what happens in NYC (and other places as well). People don't want to get involved or even care. Just because he was homeless doesn't (IMO) make him any less human than you or I. People fall on hard times but for crap sake has this world become such an unfeeling and cold place that we no longer help each other. Sorry but this story just makes me sick

Also, why in the world did the guy that lifted the poor man up, not call an ambulance? Wouldn't that be common sense when you see someone lying on the ground, and when you pick them up, seeing blood?

At least seven uncaring and gawking people who all probably had a dang cell phone. Not one of them could dial 911 and keep walking! I hope one day it's not them lying and dying on a sidewalk with not one person who cares. I hope these people see that man over and over in their dreams but I doubt it. I better get out of this thread before I blow a gasket.

While i might fit into the whole realistic category here, the most i would do is call an ambulance but i'll be honest, i would not just stay there and make sure he's fine. I would call the ambulance, tell them where he is and then walk away.
