How do you feel about surgery? Would you consider having surgery that isn't completely necessary, like plastic surgery?

Its' the closest thing to time travel....

I've had a few surgeries for different things, recovery isn't exactly fun, but for the most part you have no idea what's going on...so...it's fine.

There's one surgery in particular that insurance considers "non-essential," but for me is very essential that I'm looking towards...if I'm ever rich enough to afford it...and I'll admit there are a couple of cosmetic procedures I wouldn't mind having done to help me get more towards where I want to be, but if they don't happen, then so be it. But that first one...I need that...

I've had all I want of that, thank you!

I hate surgery and will avoid it if I need to! But if it has to be done, better knock me out first.
*continues earlier thought* When I had surgery on my legs last year, last thing I remember before the surgery was counting to twenty....next thing I remember, I'm getting wheeled out into recovery. Like I said, time travel.

It really is like time travel, lol. Just a mask goes on and you wake up.

I don't mind necessary surgery but I would hate to be in a hospital ward with other people. That scares me more.

I have no tangible feelings for it.

Already had it. As per doctor's advice, removed two moles from my face which always fell victims to the razor blade when shaving. Those things bleed like hell when cut and take long to heal.

Not really sure that's considered totally unnecessary surgery; because, something like that can turn into a cancerous growth with repeated aggravation. :) (I like how this old, original Smiley is left first on the chart....easily found :))

That's exactly what my GP and the dermatologist she sent me to said. The surgeon who performed the procedure noticed the damage caused by the repeated razor blade cutting. Of all the places they could sprout out on, they chose the worst possible ones.

I suppose it can be considered a necessary surgery, although no one said it must be done, but rather recommended it.

That's an inconvenient place alright.
As I recall, my Grandmother had to make pretty regular trips to the doc to have those 'sprouting' raised moles cut off that were growing in her scalp & would bleed from combing her hair.

Oh, I have at least one up there too. My hairdresser always has to tread lightly when cutting my hair.

Well, may not be absolutely necessary, but if that becomes a big PIA, you know what to do about it. ;)
I've had umpteen little melanoma "cut outs", therefore on a regular "watch list". No big deal so far really, except they got a little bit serious about the last one....took out a lymph node.

Unless it is necessary for my survival, I hope to never need surgery.

As a trans guy, I get super dysphoric when it comes to my chest. I can't wait to be able to get my moobs removed, this is 100% a necessity for myself and I know many other trans people want surgery as well and having surgery will help them. I used to be afraid of surgery, but now I'm mentally ready for it.
