YES!! Best answer ever.We can trust them to screw us over... and over again.

I don't think it is a matter of trusting them so much, at least not in the framing of this discussion. As the government are not secretly conspiring.
However it is a capitalist world system and this is reflected in government structures and systems.
Legislation is enacted in a way that benefits the capitalist class.
There will be moments of contradiction as the capitalist class aren't always unified and there can be rifts among them.
But the general rule is that policy is not to the favour of most people, much the same way that our dominant culture isn't.
Thats a cute smiley. Where do you get those from?

Sorry, I missed this post.Thats a cute smiley. Where do you get those from?
Whether it is crony capitalism or not, is not the point I was trying to make with my post. It was simply that the dominant world system we have had for the past few centuries has been a capitalist one. The state played a key role in creating the conditions necessary for the emergence and maintenance of capitalism. Increasingly over time the values and ideology of capitalism have come to seep into more and more of our social and cultural realities. It now frames the way most of our lives are conducted. The legislation I referred to as being for the benefit of the capitalist class was in the sense that it is made through and with capitalist logic and values. It is this framework that means that a lot of government actions are not to the benefit of the people. But rather further enrich and empower the already wealthy.Secretly conspiring is what government does on a daily basis and the examples are numerous and legendary.
A system that has given more wealth and freedom to more people than anything other system in history. Nothing else is even remotely comes close. It’s like comparing a Florida hill to Mount Everest.
That’s not capitalism that’s crony capitalism.
Basically the ones who don’t want government manipulating capitalism and letting the market do it’s own thing.
That’s the government’s plan but capitalism has no such rule, it favors the most innovative and hard working.

I think fundamentally you and I disagree about the nature of capitalism. But we do so in such a way that we are both in the very least suspicious of the state. You because you think they have turned too far away from capitalism and me because I think they are too capitalist. We even both look at the same time period as exemplifying our respective stances. We would probably need dedicated threads or we will run the risk of going too far off topic again. But it hasn’t really been capitalism for many decades.
More like corrupting it then maintenance of it. Maintenance of capitalism would mean they make sure everyone plays within the law not government playing within capitalism.
Yes but because of government corruption some people see capitalism differently in our culture and why so many of our young think socialism/communism is the way to go.
Now and days I think very little of it truly is for intention of capitalism.
Specially not capitalist values.
Well government isn’t for the benefit of people because they have left capitalism and corrupted it.
And why it’s no longer capitalism, true capitalism benefits all classes if you have a idea and drive to achieve it.
Of course Randy's threads have discussion value!…@Randy’s threads do have discussion value, otherwise they wouldn’t be posted.
I’ve never posted with someone who comes prepared with their own smileys, usually people are limited to the ones installed on the forum. You post without limits!
