You would think that people who get their kicks out of killing wild animals for sport would keep quiet about it after the controversy surrounding the death of Cecil the Lion.

But not huntress Sabrina Corgatelli, a university accountant from Idaho.

She really likes killing things and despite a tirade of abuse on social media, she is happy to brag about her current hunting expedition to South Africa on her Facebook page.

In one (sad) image she poses over a giraffe, accompanied with the caption: ‘Day #2 I got a amazing old Giraffe. Such a amazing animal!! I couldn’t be any happier!! My emotion after getting him was a feeling I will never forget!!!’

Miss Corgatelli, who outside of hunting deals with grants and contracts at Idaho University, hunts with a powerful composite bow.

On Friday she posted a picture of Leonardo DiCaprio as Great Gatsby with the caption: ‘To all the haters – stay tuned, you’re gonna have so much more to be p***ed about.’

Hunting giraffe is legal in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe, where fees of up to $15,000 per kill have been recorded.

In these countries, populations have been increasing in recent years, though global giraffe numbers are plummeting.

In Zimbabwe, hunting lions, leopards and elephants has been suspended in the wake of Cecil’s death, but giraffe are still considered fair game.

Thoughts about killing wild animals for sport?

Killing for sport is beyond idiotic. Seriously, why kill a giraffe? Because it's there? A life wasted. I've hunted.. I'm not against hunting. However you use what you take.. You don't waste and you damn sure give that animal respect. You don't cut off its head or feet and leave the rest to rot. Trophy hunting is the same as murder in my book. Unfortunately animals are usually never looked at as victims.
