Less trolls nowadays?

I became the same way on Reddit where I never comment anymore and just lurk around.

Same here, I have reddit on my phone. I follow a bunch of random (interesting/weird/funny/etc) sub-reddits and just scroll the feed on my breaks at work sometimes. Don't think I've ever posted a single comment on Reddit, not even once.

Do you think trolls are less common in today's forum world?

Did you see more people trolling forums 5 or 10 years ago?

Do you think the fact that the average forum user is now over 30 years old has anything with the decline in trolls? Do you think a decline in teenagers using forums has anything to do with it?

No, they are annoying now more than ever.
I saw a couple here and there years ago but now it's crazy.
I just think no matter the age trolls still come out thinking their behavior is cool or something.

I don't think they're less common. I think they've just moved on to other ventures.

Think you guys hit the nail on the head, they've mostly just moved on to other avenues, like social media. Plus they may have better trolling targets that way and have more ammo to use against people posting there with their real name/photo/info, etc. It seems more ... malicious? now. Maybe. Whereas before I felt the trolls were more fun.

Most trolls i knew in the past were older, intelligent individuals and not teens. I found them funny for the most part but i was never their target. Most trolls back in the day were comedic and could really get a forum going. The really good ones were also hackers so their brilliance of avoiding bans back then was such a laugh. It depends on the trolls i think. Todays trolls just cone across as teenagers looking for an outlet to offset their lack of emotional maturity, or adults who are bitter with their life choices.

That is what i think also most were not very young and very funny ....exeption on few bad only ... in the past i was more or a lurker and i was posting way less so i was never a target

They've moved on to more 'hip' things, generally. Trust me, they're still around, in all forms.
