How important is it to invest?

Do you think you’ll have a lot of investments when you’re older?

What kind of things would you invest in?

What things do you think are risky investments?

If you had just one dollar, what would you invest it in and why?

Mostly stick to mutual funds and ETFs (baskets of securities similar to mutual funds but trade like stocks rather than just having a single pricing at end of day). Every now and then we'll eye a promising stock but really never play the markets directly.

i invest in real estate
I kind of wish I had maybe twenty years ago. With property values around here, we are probably at the peak of the cycle and looking at a crash, or at least less stellar gains, going forward.

Kind of missed this one. Up here, it's the best way to build up a good nest egg for retirement or other future needs. Until the recent rise in interest rates, interest-bearing investments and savings accounts simply did not earn enough to generate a good retirement income. Even now, they are not performing as well as securities like stocks and bonds. Not sure about other economies, though.
