Is social media making us less social?

Due to my mental health issues, I've never been social anyway!

Asperger's.

Yes! You cannot go anywhere with seeing people on their phones.

If you go to a restaurant all you see are couple sat on their phones, not communicating and enjoying themselves it’s sad really.

I absolutly agree with this to a point. I think that in a space where we can communicate with our loved ones or friends in different areas of the world it's amazing.. However, if we are in the same room doing it yeah it's a problem and has been one for some time. I think that social media is the bane of our existence.

Oh, you think forum is your ally. But you merely adopted the forum; I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn't see the social media until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but BORING! :p

And in case you get cocky and pull moderator rank on me:

Same thing going on everywhere it seems.

Might as well save money and stay home & not talk to each other in the privacy of their homes.

Lol, people do that too. They were probably doing that all day before driving to the restaurant.

And it will never change, people are ignorant and anti social now, it’s a pleasure to stay in sometimes just to avoid the human race.

I wish I could avoid the human race for the rest of my life...
Go live in the forest amongst the animals. Maybe you could find bigfoot!

Yes and no. The point of social media is to socialize with others. My cousin is autistic and non verbal, she isn't social in person, but give her a phone with social media and she is actively talking to her friends. I do think social media has killed off in person social interaction, which I'm perfectly fine with. Frankly, I don't see it as much of a problem. As long as people are still socializing, who cares if it's in person or online? There's no law that says social interactions have to be in person.

Besides, there will always be people who prefer online interaction and in person interaction.
