So as you all know I’m a web engineer and developer and you can make video games browser based with JavaScript,

Do you think this is a good idea or bad idea?

I've never really looked into the process of making browser games using JavaScript. To be honest, I wasn't even aware that people used JS to create games. I always thought of it as a language for websites. It could be a fun project so I would say it's a good idea.

I haven’t tried it myself because you’re right it’s mainly better to be used for what it’s originally intended for, Websites I’m a web developer and use JavaScript often.

But the concept to make games with it is a little fun for something fun to do.

Potentially a bad idea.. I think JavaScript will most likely end up going the same way as Flash before too much longer, and it will be a wasted effort.

HTML5 is going to the way forward with browser games.

As a web developer that spends 50% of his web development time with JQuery (a JavaScript framework)
I have to agree that making a game with JavaScript is a interesting concept but it definitely isn’t the best idea and there’s far better programming languages out there for that type of stuff.

I believe it will, However JavaScript will remain for real time buttons, etc.. but it definitely fade out for game development nor is it designed for that.

but I thought I see what everyone else thinks about this.

Yeah, it's a bad idea - not just because it's not powerful enough IMO, but also because a lot of people browse with JavaScript disabled.

HTML5 is just better for it.

I agree! :)
If someone has their JS turned off then they might think the games broken :D
