GOOD RIDDANCE! - Joey Ryan Cancelled Again
Some of the comments....hooboy:
--At the time Joey Ryan was "in his prime" I was more into wrestling than I ever have been. I saw what he did and all I could say is: how the fuck is guy famous? What makes him so liked among certain fans? I guess it's a matter of an opinion, but I can't even see how that was good comedy wrestling.
--Joey Ryan big leagued Stevie Richards...Stevie Richards lowest point is still higher than the largest peak in Joey Ryan's career.
--I remember walking around a convention with a friend and we saw Joey Ryan. He knew who we were because we attended the indie shows he performed at. He was standing around with a girl and he made eye contact with us as we were passing by. He gave us the craziest death stare and we assumed he did so because he thought we were gonna cock block him. My friend and I were like, "This dude really thinks we like him enough to talk to him outside of a wrestling show."
--The amount of disrespect Stevie has endured over his career is so disappointing. Especially from idiots like Joey Ryan. Hail Stevie!
--Portland wrestling changed a lot since Roddy Piper and Billy Jack Haynes.
--I'm from the Pacific Northwest. Portland wrestling had some momentum pre booking Joey Ryan from a recent documentary done on Portland wrestling. It's beyond me how anyone thought this was a good idea. I've got a strong feeling Portland wrestling is dead under the current ownership.
One comment in particular though...
--Joey Ryan tried to file multiple lawsuits against the women who accused him of sexual assault/misconduct, IMPACT Wrestling for breach of contract, and former ROH wrestler Pelle Primeau for defamation. He was seeking damages of $15m from each party.
In Primeau's case, it was after he tweeted multiple times about Ryan, which included an allegation that Ryan had "actively pursued my fiance and were instrumental in helping ruin my life," as well as a series of text messages from a woman that Ryan had been on a Tinder date with who alleged that she had him kicked out of a bar as he kept touching her legs and trying to reach up her skirt.
When you look at the lawsuit though, Ryan outlined how much money he had lost per month following the allegations against him. Depending on how truthful he was being.
--His indy promotion Bar Wrestling with $1,500 per month in streaming distribution (he had a deal through Highspots) and $4,000 in event booking.
--$1,000 in merchandise.
--$3,000 through Patreon.
--$1,500 through Twitch and Cameo.
--$8,000 - $10,000 on wrestling bookings.
Meaning Joey Ryan at the time had been making between $19,000 - $21,000 per month.
A number of the lawsuits were dismissed through the efforts of Jim Cornette's lawyer Stephen P. New. Who took on the Primeau suit pro bono, and advised on others.
