Hmmm....so anyway, I have to have an operation. The doctor said he's going to fit me in asap, but it will probably be September. I'm going to see the anaesthetist later on today and he will probably give me an exact date. I have to stay in intensive care for 24 hours after the op, then in the high care unit for 2 days after that, then I get signed off work for 2 weeks.

The death rate is 2 per thousand, so if you don't hear from me for a while afterwards I'll either be resting and recuperating or I'll have popped my clogs. Just thought I'd let ya'll know.

Hope all goes well for you Rapunzel and you make a

quick recovery

Don't you dare become one of them now!

Hope you recover quickly and the operation goes smoothly.

Awww...thankyou all for your kind words. I was really touched, reading them all.

I saw the anaesthetist and have realised it's a bigger op than I thought it was, which is a bit scary. However, not having it would be worse in the long run. I've been advised to write a will...just in case! So tell me now...what do you all want?

All I want is for you to have a speedy recovery and be as good a new when it's all over.

Do you have the date of the operation yet? I want to light a candle that day and send you love and positive thoughts.

No, I thought the anaesthetist would give me a date but he told me I'd be sent a date next week when the surgeon's secretary comes back from holiday! Why one of the other secretaries can't send me a date, I don't know.

The surgeon said asap and probably before the end of September, but I imagine it will be close to the end of Sept.

Two weeks before the op I have to go on a 'starvation diet' and for the week before the op I have to wash each day in a special chemical which kills all the germs on your body and cuts down the risk of MRSA. I'm SO not looking forward to this!

Lol! Let's hope its plan isn't to turn me back into dust. Lol.

@Rapunzel: Sounds very complicated with all you have to do to prep for this operation. Seems weird, like you said, that another secretary couldn't have scheduled you. Oh well, I guess they have their reasons.

Please let us know once you have the date.

O.O

That's not a very good impression to give people...

Lol. No, that was advice from a friend for 'just in case...', not from the doctors. However, I was warned about the risks and I guess you have to read between the lines and take positive action.

Thanks Jazzy, I'll let you know.
