Kirby's Epic Yarn hit stores shelves across North America on October 17, but sadly, the charming platformer won't be making its way to Australia or Europe this year.

We've just confirmed with Nintendo Australia, in fact, that Kirby's Epic Yarn will be a 2011 release in both territories. Here's what a spokesperson told us:

Australia generally follows the European release schedule, as both Europe and Australia use the PAL system. As Kirby's Epic Yarn is launching in Europe in 2011, it will also launch in Australia in 2011. Having experienced the game at E3 this year, we are really excited about its release in Australia.

This is obviously a huge shame, given that Epic Yarn is one of the standout Wii titles of 2010, and comes on the back of a few other disappointments. Australia and Europe are still waiting for Cave Story on WiiWare, for instance, (although it's only a matter of time as it was classified in Australia months ago), while Australia has seen no sign of Sin and Punishment: Star Successor.

Yep, despite being released a few days ago in Japan and America the game will be delayed elsewhere

Indeed. Too bad the Wii is Region locked so I can't import it without wasting £200 on another Wii
