Kushari is the most popular Egyptian food across all times. It comes at first or equal place to Falafel but since Falafel is widely spread among all Arab countries, Koshari is the most liked meal in Egypt.

It is tasty, very easy to prepare and ingredients are very cheap. Here is the recipe:

Note: You can exclude onion if you don't like it.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups uncooked white rice
3 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 (16 ounce) package uncooked elbow macaroni
1 cup beluga lentils, soaked in water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
5 onions, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
4 ripe tomatoes, diced
1/2 cup tomato paste
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

It takes approximately 15 mins to prepare and an hour and a half to be ready to eat.
