Now, what one does in their private lives is one thing (remember the quote in Casino: "I have a past, you have a past....") but when it colors or affects your political views, you better believe it is relevant.

I don't think its' so much that (though that does apply), its' more "Don't run a morals campaign and do something immoral/have something immoral in your past).
