When leaving a forum do you announce your departure or do you just log out and never return?

I’d normally just leave, I have posted to announce that I am leaving mainly if I’ve been a staff member or a well known member of a community but any other forum I’d just leave.

Depends. If I'm a staff member, I tender my resignation so the bosses know I'm out and look for another idiot volunteer to do their bidding on their own time for nothing in return. Basically, if I notice the admin(s) is / are playing God(s) at my expense, I'm out.

As a regular member, I just restore my profile to default (sometimes not even that), log out, delete the bookmark and that's it.

I guess it depends on the community I’ve been a staff member on quite a few in my time, some have been a shitty experience but some I have found to be very rewarding especially if you get on with the management.

From what I've noticed so far, admins usually expect their moderators to just stand still and let the members throw proverbial feces at them out of fear of losing those members, since they might get offended and leave if slapped on a proverbial wrist.

Depends on how well-known I am on that particular forum. I may consider announcing my departure if I was well-known. On the other hand, it's not really necessary and you're free to leave whenever you wish.

Usually nope. I'll just leave without saying anything specially on RP/RPG forums. I just lose interest in the forum or just realize it wasn't a good fit for me.

Are you into those? I can't seem to get into role playing.
Yes, I just tend to get bored and leave after trying to roleplay with others and joining open threads where it's just crickets.

So I stopped joining them as much cause of that reason honestly. lol

I leave if I'm just a regular member and don't say a word. If I'm on staff I'll resign with as little drama as possible and then be on my way. No waves here!

I do the same thing. I just randomly leave and don't say much as a member. If staff I step down.

Log out and never return. I feel no need to make it a public thing. Those that I've become acquainted with I would message before my departure.

I announce my resignation because it's the polite thing to do.

Usually just log out and never return, but it's not usually a conscious decision. If I'm leaving a forum, it's usually just due to a lack of interest and my activity slowly drops until I stop turning up. I don't really *choose* to leave, it just happens naturally over time when I stop thinking about the site and remembering to stop by.

I do wish more people would say goodbye though because I've genuinely worried about members who dropped off the face of the earth.
