Letting Go

Why is letting go such a hard thing to do? I mean you realize at some point that the person you are with isn't THE person you want to spend the rest of your life with. You decide that the relationship can be nothing more than a frienship. No easy way out (IMO) and having to tell that person is one of the hardest things I think a person has to do. Have you ever been in this situation? If so, how did you handle letting go?

Both times I just told her honestly. For me it wasn't that hard because I didn't have feelings for them anymore. One of the two however didn't seem to understand that it was over and that was kind of painful... I wouldn't be able to stay friends with any of my ex girlfriends though.

At some point you have to just walk away.



It may hurt for a long time, and you'll wonder if you did the right thing for the rest of your life, but sometimes.... you just have to walk away.

Yes, I've had to deal with this situation multiple times...and pretty much each time, whether it was my choice or not, I really didn't want to let go, but it would pretty much come down to personal survival (many times I'm not sure it was even worth it). I am not even sure if I have been able to 'handle' it...
