What advice would you give to someone who will be living on their own for the first time?

Be careful with your money. Live modestly.

Learn how to cook. You'll save a lot of money if you can cook basics like rice, veggies, soups, pastas, chicken, beans, etc. Cooking and putting things in tupperware containers to eat for later will help a lot.

Wash ALL CLOTHES in warm, use an unscented detergent. Hang shirts to dry to avoid shrinkage and wrinkles. Take pants out of the drier before they're completely dry, hang for same reason.
