Have you ever been on a lock down at your school or work place?

Could you explain what a lock down is? I don't think we have them in the UK, or we use a different word.

When someone or something threatens the saftey of the people at the school or workplace. Everything gets Locked Down

We've never had that at my school, Or any of the surrounding schools. I think with the fact that guns aren't legal in the UK we don't get as many here.

It's rather odd, you hear about school children being involved in things like this, but it is almost never done on school grounds here.

We have these a lot more often then we should.

Weapons and guns for the most part...

Last one was only a couple of months ago.

Been through several of them. They seem to happen at least once a month.. Then again I work in a bad neighborhood.

Wow, that's frequent!

Just curious, what reasons have to be

met before they decide to lock down?

I see schools lock down but never work places.

Only once at the workplace. An employee got fired and called the police department and told them he had put a bomb under a car in the employee parking lot. He didn't say what car so the bomb squad, police and fire department responded. There were over 500 cars in the parking lot that they had to check. In the meantime we were not allowed near any doors or windows and told to stay at our desk. It took them hours but no bomb was ever found.

Nope, it's never happpened at my school, at least whilst I've been there anyway.

Only happened to me once, I work at home most of the time and, but one my crazy neighbors held a guy ar gunpoint and we all had to leave our own homes and the police were there and everything, he got arrested and now a cop lives on our street

Never happened at school, but we have a weird lockdown protocol. We're supposed to get into storage closets... But 90% of the classrooms don't have them.

And I mean, if you're in a chemistry lab, why would you? I'd just blow whoever comes through the door up.

Most recently it was because someone told some trespassers to leave so they started getting mad and said they were going to run home and grab some guns and shoot up the place. I knew they weren't serious and they actually never did come back but you have to follow protocol I guess.
