You see a lot of people in your life. You may feel a special attraction to several that don't work out, as well as the one that does. But the way we are wired, you usually don't remember the ones that passed out of your life.
So it indeed seems like you had love at first sight for just the one.
Yes it is quite the romantic idea, but, the reality is probably not so rosy.
