The Silent Twins (June and Jennifer Gibbons) by Marjorie Wallace

It's a true story of love and hate, dreams and desolation, genius and destruction.

This is the astonishing tale of June and Jennifer Gibbons, identical twins whose silent, antisocial exterior hid a rich, vast, creative life. From early childhood through their twenties, they spoke only to each other in a secret language, building an elaborate fantasy life. Then, from their self-imposed isolation, they were catapulted into the hormonal havoc of adolescence, plunging into a wild spree that led to their incarceration in a hospital for the criminally insane. A profoundly powerful and moving story.

Neuromancer by William Gibson

The Stand by Stephen King

Getting a glimpse into Patrick Bateman's mind in American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

The Exegesis of Phiilip K. Dick
...if there's another book that most assuredly fits the definition of mindscrew, its' this one.

Really anything by PKD:

1) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
2) Exegesis
3) Scanner Darkly

That is so true, Dee...so true; come to think of it, next to the word mindscrew isn't a picture of Exegesis but a picture of PKD himself.
