Yesterday was a VERY busy day. I woke up, drove down to the water company to see what my final bill was. Then I went over to the property management place to sign a rental agreement and get my keys. Their office is like 3 towns over which is kind of inconvenient for me but it only takes 15 minutes to get there. After I got the keys I went over to the truck rental place. I had reserved the largest moving truck they offer. That thing was huge! Ive never driven such a large truck before. It was kind of nerve racking but I got the hang of it in a couple minutes. I drove over and picked up the fridge I bought from someone on craigs list. Then I went to my house to meet my brother and friend. We started loading the truck. Took about an hour and a half to load it because I wanted everything stacked perfectly so we could move it all in one load. Glad I got the biggest truck because a medium sized truck would have taken a few trips. So we got it all loaded and headed to my new house. We parked the truck and I took them out for lunch. I paid for everyone because they were helping me move. After lunch we came back and unloaded the truck. After that I took the truck back and went over to my old house to do some light clean up as I had already did most of the cleaning over the past couple weeks. After that I went and picked up my daughter and we headed over to the new place. I unpacked and arranged things until about 2am. Still got a lot left to do.

Anyway, I am happy to be in my new place!

Edit: After 2 days of straight unpacking and arranging things, I am finally done. Now I can relax. It looks great in here!

Forgot to ask how your daughter likes the new apartment.

She likes it.

Its not an apartment though, its a duplex.

Glad it all went so smoothly and you got it all done in one day.

What's a duplex? And what's the difference between a duplex and an apartment?

I've always wanted to know.

An apartment is several units in one building and several buildings in one complex. They dont have a backyard or front yard. Maybe a little back patio. You have to use a common coin operated laundry room, etc..

A duplex is bigger and there is only 2 units. Kind of like two houses stuck together. They have a front yard and back yard, washer/dryer hookups, etc...

Have you met your new neighbors yet?

I met one.. A lady with a 12 year old daughter. They seem nice. I havent met the ones on the other side of me though.

Sounding good so far. Did the old landlord sell the desk to you that your daughter liked?

Yep for $20.

My daughter keeps saying how much nicer this place is. Its more updated and new. I think this place was built in the 80's and our old house in the 40's.

Her room is bigger too. This place is carpeted throughout the whole thing. Our old place only had carpet in the bedrooms.

Speaking of the old landlord, I have to go meet with him in a couple hours to give the keys back.

Thankyou.

I've always wondered what they were.

A duplex sounds like (what we would call) a semi-detached house i.e., two houses stuck together.

Your new house sounds lovely. We moved in January. We used to live next door to the neighbours from hell. Now we live next door to friends that we've known for ages, in a lovely quiet road where we know 6 other families, who were also all friends of ours before we moved (and still are! Lol!)

I hope your move turns out to be as wonderful as ours has turned out to be.

I liked this pic. It looks like your daughter might have drawn it.

How are things going in your new place? Have you met any more neighbors yet?

Congratulations, Nebulous! Glad you and your daughter are enjoying the new place. Working till 2 AM must have sucked though. I definetly know I wouldn't have made it that long. I'd have been out like a light by 9 PM at the most!

Haven't met any other neighbors yet..

Its going great! Its cheaper than that house in the ghetto (rent is $25 cheaper & water/garbage is paid) and it seems more comfortable. Haven't heard a train go by or a plane fly over & I wont be hearing them. I walked down the street and didn't see a single crack head or gang member.

Much better.
