I created 2 forums yet never really advertised or anything.

TheMediaDesk.com was so named, in 1996 (give or take), because that's what I did on the BBS that had gone dark the year before.
Bruthadeep.com was so named (in 2001 after existing as a 'page' on an overseas server) because it is run by "Brutha Jim Deep" who STILL gets mail and offers from the real world even though he has never lived there.
Both are privately owned, fully qualified, registered, stand alone, "dot com" domains.

But I named this one because of the genre it is.

The 'hive' was a little something me and a friend came up with for Blahive. Blahive was the original to get the 'hive' because we wanted Blahive to see like a beehive of discussion or something... I think he was drunk when me and him were coming up with that
It's just stuck since. Of course I'll need to come up with a better name for my forum for it's okay for the time being.

The High Coast is the English translation of the Tomas Ledin album title 'Hoga Kusten'. The original High Coast is the name given to the area of Sweden where he was raised.
My forums are typically named after the subject matter and usually with some sort of twist to them, I've had so many down the years I don't even remember all of their names at this point. I just try to keep it simple and as strong as possible.
Did you always get the .com's associated with your name choice?
Not always, no, I've had a few .nets along the way
.nets are the next best thing. Our old domain was wober.net
Yep, I quite like a .net, it works just as well as the .com, IMO.
I think the name can be significantly important and help guide visitors in your direction when the name has a clear vibe of what the forum is all about. My current forum has a pretty simple name for Jcink coding, being 'jCodes'. The 'j' basically implies Jcink and the 'codes' implies exactly what the forum is meant for, so it sounded conveying enough to me.

(1) The Sci-Fi Station & The Sci-Fi Station II were SF-oriented boards with a healthy current affairs section
(2) Alternate Worlds was an alt-history board
(3) Conversations & Conversations II were (and in the case of C2, currently are) general-purpose boards

When my forum first started, the community as a whole elected to name it "Elite Gamers Forum", because teenagers who think they're the shit would of course think of such a name.
After two years when we had grown up a little, I felt the name was dated and rather obnoxious, so the community again discussed names and "Universal Gaming" was chosen since we had already been using a space theme for all of our skins, and "universal" felt fitting to also cover everything about gaming since we're not focused on any particular platform.
