Nations report card indicates worst decline in math and reading scores in decades.

What time period is it referring to?;
I don't think Serafin cares; if he can slag public education - one of the great historical levelers of society - he'll do it.
Trust me, he'll do it.

Which is a shame as it isn't like there is nowhere to improve the education system. There are still lots of shortcomings where it does need serious reform. Do you still have an equivalent of the Headstart programme? Last I heard the conservatives were trying to get rid of that. Under quite racist grounds.

To answer the question: yes, because they can. They'd also like to get rid of the whole entire social safety net while they're at it too....

I have no desire to slag Publix education, I’d like to know my nephews and nieces have the potential of a bright future in public schools, even though they have begun home schooling. So I’d like to know anyones kids aren’t going to be dumb as rocks after they graduate.

That used to be the case when it was about actually teaching the next generation to create and grow society. Schools do less teaching the next generation to be prepared and more about how to become a political piece of meat.

Trust me, he'll do it.

If it deserves it you I’ll do it and it deserves it in spades.

The timeframe for this decline was during the global pandemic. I am not surprised that they showed such a drastic drop then. I would have been surprised if it was anything other than this which resulted from the circumstances we are in right now. I do agree that it is tragic and more needs to be done to provide appropriate support to students.

The assessment compared reading and math scores from the winter of 2020 with the “results of long-term trend assessments in the winter of 2022.”

*looks at source* The Daily Wire? Ben Shapiro's little internet rag?
We're supposed to take that twerp - the "facts don't care for your feelings" twerp - seriously?

Of course students will be struggling after going through the pandemic and basically losing 2 years worth of an education.

Since I was only verifying what timeframe the declines were dealing with, I simply followed the OP's link. Here is the actual report https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/highlights/ltt/2022/

The most discouraging part of the report is in how those students who were already struggling suffered the biggest decreases.

From a shutdown that should have never happened we hurt a generation that was already struggling

It’s not there facts, which you repeatedly get wrong on articles sharing outcomes from our society
