For the original Star Trek, the writers, led by Mr. Roddenberry came up with the IDIC from Mr. Spock's home world, Vulcan.
The abbreviation is for "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations".
It is something I agree with.
If you took 'some thing' out of the world, such as when an animal goes extinct, it makes the world less marvelous.
Therefore, I wouldn't wish to do away with any of it, including Poison Ivy.
