New forums pop up everyday.

Do you like to be a part of brand new forums that just started?
..Or do you prefer to stick around established ones you've been a part of for a while.

In the forum world, I've noticed some people stick to a couple established forums and they aren't really seen anywhere else and others tend to jump from new forum to new forum and never really stay active at any one place for long.

This is so true I love this forum and I am not active on other forums.
By the way I was a part of a brand new forum like two years ago and that was my boyfriends forum.

I used to skip about merrily joining whatever forum that looked enjoyable, but I've basically lessened myself to four forums that service my particular interests. I have a forum for gaming, movies, literature, and general-discussion. I see no reason why I should have to go anywhere else for any of them.

I will not join a brand new forum ever again. In the past, I did and tried my best to contribute. I joined two and they both folded. They were General Discussion forums but as we all know, they are a dime a dozen. I prefer to stick with established forums where I see staff is active. That, as a member, is important to me as I know they're not just depending on members to "carry the forum" or if I need something, there's staff to ask. When I check out even an established forum, I will lurk for weeks. I want to see new content is being added and how members interact.

I've no issue joining a new forum if I have an interest in said forum, but there's also an issue of establishing "what constitutes a new forum?" One year, two years? Five weeks, Five months? When does a forum exist the scene of "new" and bridge into the realm of established?

I think one should definitely check out the activity and general atmosphere of a form before they join up because the forum may not mesh up with who you are as a person/poster or be slowly dying off.

I am a member of a lot of forums, but I am only truly "active" on one forum, but that is my own forum, so, yea.

I don't mind joining a new forum but after I've joined and posted and found that it's not really going anywhere I tend to lurk and then never come back. I like big-ish forums with some active members and staff.

I am the same way. :highfive:

If I see a new forum that has potential and I have a big interest in it then I will join. But I tend to watch them progress for a while, If they become quite active then i'll join, if not I don't bother.
With promotion forums, I always look for Metalheads. Might seem strange but no point in advertising a Metal forum/radio at a place with no metalheads!
I've joined far to many forums before and nothing comes of them, they are just dead and empty. I prefer to join established forums.

I tend to stick around in longer lasting forums. I disappear occasionally maybe a month or two but I usually come back to chat and have fun. Especially this forum. I've disappeared from Off Topix a few times before but I return eventually. XD
