Agreed; hell, the comment doesn't even make sense when you look at cities like Greenville & Spartanburg, both conservative cities in Upstate South Carolina. Heck, Knoxville - home to the University of Tennessee - is a conservative city but given how conservative Tennessee is, they're looked like the same way as San Francisco is.

Not American? Just a failed ideology? I always wonder why when cities get bigger they do away with self ruggedness and independence of soul. And become addicted for having everyone else solve their issues? I guess big cities get sick and create sick people in the head and soul.
Or, in turn, rural areas get stagnant and fail to adapt to the world changing around them, remaining stuck to old way or old mores'.
I should know: while Western North Carolina's progressed a lot in the past few decades, there's still people complaining along the lines of "they changed it, now it sucks"...
Plenty of small towns which are the ones that feed America that have their ups and downs according to the economy but overall it’s a better life and children grow up with better educations and ready for the real world.
And an awful lot of us manage to become liberal in our views and politics despite the pressings-down society tries to impose on us, so there's still hope.
