That was really weird.

OK, yeah, it was one of the 'also ran' songs that was so 'also ran' that it didn't make the list in the "Showstoppers" thread.

BUT. having said that, it lives on here, and all because of a .. ... well... I guess it is a 'dance', of sorts, that the blonde girl does toward the end of this song from the 1936 production of "Showboat".

I have no idea who decided that she needed to do this in the movie, but it is hilarious.

Her ... ... spasms, I guess, begin about four minutes in.

Oh, by the way, the lead singer, "Julie" is Helen Morgan, one of the reigning stars of the time. The male singer that comes in later can be found in the Showstoppers thread.

enjoy

That dance cracked me up. Looks like she's having some sort of seizure!

Update:

Number One Daughter, whose wedding is exactly seven days away and who is now fully immersed in pre-wedding drama, stopped by to chat with my wife and look through photos for some album or other, viewed the video.

She stood there through most of the song with THAT look of disapproval on her face, until the girl got off the table.

It was worth sitting through the wedding talk to see her laughing at the "chicken dance".
