I've been wondering what all of you are thinking when it comes to the American remake that they're doing of the South Korean movie. I think that a lot of people can mutually agree that an original idea is often better than a new one, but personally, I'm all for the movie! I hate the pretentious remarks when it comes to foreign content being "remade," but that's because I don't think a whole lot of people actually understand it. "They need to shut-up, stop being too lazy to read, and watch the original." I find that to be the stupidest remark ever conceived, because that's not why the movie is being remade. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, that's good too, but he movie is being remade because other-wise a mass-majority of everybody outside of Korea will not have seen the story. From the commercials, I think that it's clear that they didn't tweak the source-material very much, so it's not as if they're "fixing it" either. I watched the original a couple of months ago, and found myself really enjoying it. I watched the other movies from the trilogy as well, but I think those are best left unmentioned. (The other two sucked.)
I am curious because this movie is a very outlandish, and edgy, with a controversial twist that hasn't been seen very often before. I am wondering exactly what it'll be like, and how viewers will react. Whatever the case, the movie has a commendable cast which includes Josh Brolin and Samuel L. Jackson. Whether or not it'll do justice to the original, however, remains to be seen.
Thoughts? Did you like the original? Do you care about the remake? Would you like to see the other movies remade?
