Well this is a USA related issue but Im sure people from outside of the USA will have their opinions. Here is some more info on it:
The Pledge of Allegiance is an oath of loyalty which is recited at many public events and in public school everyday (usually 1st thing in the morning). It is performed by placing your right hand over your heart and looking at the flag while saying the following:

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
Anyways, some people dont want the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools because they think its unconstitutional because the phrase one nation under God violates the separation of church and state.

What do you think about this?

Personally I dont think there is anything wrong with saying the Pledge of Allegiance at school. I did it every single day while I was going to school and nobody ever had a problem with it. Now a days, every one wants everything to be Politically Correct and I think its pure B.S. Why break tradition? People have been reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for hundreds of years and all of the sudden its wrong to say it?

I am a student & I no longer recite the pledge of alligence. Not because I take offense at the one nation under God statement, but because it shows loyalty to a symbol of the American government which I feel has ceased to represent the people. As for having it in school I see no trouble with allowing students to say it, but I agree with the vast majority of the posters here, that it should not be forced.

It should be encouraged, but not forced. That's all I'm saying.

isn't that the truth. If you believe hard enough that you don't want to take allegiance, don't cause a scene, just don't do it.

I do believe the pledge of allegiance has lost its meaning for a while now.

I surely doubt any of the politicians really believe in it since they made the country so it no longer stands for the people who live in it but the businesses that are situated in the US.

it's a pointless pledge that really means nothing anyways. I don't know why anyone cares who says it or not and where they say it.

I think this would be a more accurate pledge tbh that reflects America today.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Corporations for which it stands: one Corrupt government, under money, divisible, with Liberty and Justice for no one.

I use to say it every now and then but not recently but the words to me meant nothing in all honesty.

It wasn't until High school that it was an option to leave out UNDER GOD! Personally I said it all the time. Actually come to think of it...it was a complete option to say it or not...or even stand up in High School lol.

I've always said the Pledge at school, and I always will. Every morning, we say the Pledge of Allegiance and then the Pledge to the Texas Flag, and then we have a moment of silence.

I don't see anything wrong with it. The Pledge means a lot to me and pretty much all of the kids in my class. Last year, we had a sub in my Speech class, which I had second period - the period we say the Pledges in, and some of the guys were being stupid and made her mad - her husband was in the military, but now he's back and he's a cop here. She said that we should always think about what we say in the Pledge and I always do.

Its not really the pledge to the flag that i care about its my own pledge to my service

But the flag is important too...its the reason why I'm ova here in the first place

It is a pointless pledge TO YOU. It is not pointless to many die-hard patriot Americans.

Like me.

I won't even get into what that pledge means to all the veterans I know, and I know a lot of veterans.[/quote]

lol I am quite sure the vast majority of congress and the president don't care much for what it stands for. If they did then we would not have half of the problems we have today.

Yes, the soldiers who fight and die for wars to defend the rights and freedoms of the rest of the world should really rethink just what they are doing over there when they were meant to be protecting our country. We haven't served in a legit war since WW2. the war in Iraq and Afghanistan will eventually be seen as not much different then the wars in Korea and Vietnam.

Also I thought it was mind numbingly obvious that anything not fact is my opinion without me having to state it for anyone. lol

They can question it by refusing to go and get punished for doing what they feel is right instead of just saying I was just following orders and doing what they feel is wrong. Why else do the government today need to literally bribe people to sign up? The excuse of I was just following orders doesn't help you when the government is in trouble for torturing people as they are more then happy to throw you under a bus if it means saving their backside.

lol Bush was the one who started this war... he inherited everything that's going on today. Don't blame Obama for things he didn't start. Not saying he's doing good either but he's not. He's a better speaker and not so much of an embarrassment that Bush was.

I don't see the problems Bush created getting fixed no matter what Obama does for either one or two terms. This country is so messed up that it will take decades if not longer to fix it.

Personally I would have just let the Republicans win another term in office so they can sit there and educate everyone on how little they know about fixing the problems that people within their own party created.

Its not Obama that's keepin this war alive...Its the miltiary officials! They are demanding more troops in Afghanistan while Obama sending troops home by the thousands....I'm in Iraq and I am on a huge huge base and in the two months I have been here...A huge chunk of the personnel on the base have gone home, with no replacement.

But we can't just say hey....the war is ova today...bring everyone home....that would definitely be a bad thing...we gotta gradually pull out...

Troops still don't have the say in whether they go to war or not! lol...Its still do what the hell I say and go where the fudge I tell you too...If you manage to get out of going to war you either have a severely broken limb, you went out and got AIDS or HIV, killed yourself, or killed someone else..or got into a severe financial problem....

Personally, I been reading things across the internet. I am a Christian myself and can prove things that is true. I have seen on the internet about major country leaders, russia, china, EU, America, etc. Are meeting in one place to sign a, Climate Control Bill To stop gas cars to control the so called, Global Warming But behind it all is the, One World Government Also if you hear all the churchs, islam, christians, catholics, muslims are going to sign a similar bill in austrilia about starting a one world church. So everthing about the Bible is a fact. Either way you believe me or not. I just shoved the truth up in all your faces.

so yay for me for proving the Bible is right +1 for me.

A story without sources remains just that; a story. Post some links to this claim, and maybe I'll believe it
smile.png
Reliable sources too

Nah, I seen it on the news. Just google it on abc or something, you'll find it. What I posted was a fact.

Even if this is what Obama strives to accomplish, there is no way this will ever happen. Not in two years, for sure.

I suppose we'll see in a few years, though, won't we.

Edit: Let's keep this away from a religious debate though. It just causes a lot of extra stress.

Well, in my opinion Christianity, some people think it is, stressful to hear. But it is not, it is guilt. But last thing I am going to post about it.

I do come from a Christian home, too, but there is no need to post your views on religion. I have seen so many times on sites how fast threads can get derailed when you strike their religious beliefs. Everyone has an opinion, and religion is a touchy topic.

What is your view on the Pledge of Allegiance? Should or should not be forced in school?

Actually, about the Pledge of Allegiance. -ontopic-

It should be forced, because if not. People will just go on into school then into life out of college, and do whatever they want and pretend america never exsisted, we need to teach our students they live under a law they live in america. So yah.
