The Guardian: Police - shots fired on Michigan State University’s East Lansing campus
Michigan State University police said on Monday they were responding to reports of shots fired near a building on the school’s East Lansing campus.
An alert was sent shortly after 8.30pm by the university’s police department that read: “MSU Police report shots fired incident occurring on or near the East Lansing campus. Secure-in-Place immediately. Run, Hide, Fight.
“Run means evacuate away from danger if you can do so safely, Hide means to secure-in-place, and Fight means protect yourself if no other option. Monitor alert.msu.edu for information.”
Michigan State University police confirmed the shooting in a series of tweets.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the East Lansing high school auditorium, where a school board meeting was being held on Monday night, is locked down and people, including a State Journal reporter, were being prevented by police from leaving.
