When I was younger I went to the pound to volunteer. There was a dog there that was a Sheppard/Lab mix. I fell in love with the dog the minute I saw her and wound up adopting her a few days later. She was the best dog you could ever hope to own. She and I went every where together and she lived a full and happy life.
There are so many dogs in the pounds that deserve and need a loving home. If I could have taken them all, I would have. Whenever I hear a person say they are thinking about getting a dog, I tell them to go to the pound and have a look. You'd be surprised that there are often pure breed dogs that have wound up there due to neglect or the owners simply didn't want them. I highly recommend giving a pound dog a second chance and you won't regret it.
