Do you dislike it when people tell you this in introductions?

Immediate turnoff. Nothing I can't stand more is to be reminded about the rules when I'm suppose to be welcomed into their community. Restating the rules after having agreed to the terms of service is repetitively unnecessary. Also, I've registered on several sites only to see what they're about, and if I am reminded of the rules and demanded to stay active, nine times out of ten I'll leave without giving the community a second thought. Strictness & rule extremest annoy me, especially when they recite every rule break to each offender every possible opportunity they receive.

It really annoys me.. I dont need to be told that..

I usually quote the person and take out all that other crap and only leave the word Welcome in the quote and I reply with Thanks

It doesn't annoy me.

I might've forgotten to read the rules so it's an ok reminder for me.

The nicer way to say be active is

We hope you'll continue to post here. Enjoy you're stay!

Meh, to me is whatever. I guess I joined that forum for a reason. And that was to be active and see what they have to offer. I wouldn't really care if they kept reminding people of the rules. Because stuff does happen. And they want a forum thats organized. And when theres rules, you can still have fun.

I don't mind when people tell me to read the rules, but I hate it when they tell me to be active. There are hundreds of forums out there on the Net, they shouldn't treat their forum like it's #1 or whatever have you. I used to be very bad at saying this when I first started, but now I no longer do so. I just tell people to enjoy their stay and have a good time.

I haven't read the overall forum rules in the many years I been on forums as it was always seen to me to be just common sense tbh.

Act decent and don't do anything that appears stupid and you should be fine in most if not all cases.

So telling me to read the rules or be active isn't going to make me do anything nor do I care that they do it.

It doesn't bother me. I will either read them or not depending on how much time I have. But, even if I don't read them I am not worried about it because I am a pretty quiet person anyway... post when I can and never cause a problem...so don't break rules.

I don't read the rules anyway so feel free to tell me to read them as I still won;t read them.

As for being active, provide me a reason to be active then I will and if you don't then I won't. It's really that simple.

I saw on a forum the other day, post once every 30 days or your account is deleted......

ummmm, yeah, OK.

I wouldnt even join a forum like that either.

When I get that as an answer to my intro, I want to come back with

I refuse to read the rules, and I will not be active--you can't make me, so there......

You should just quote the post and edit it to read Ignore the rules and be inactive. Then say Ok, sure thing. and then leave. XD
