remaking a Forum

Hi there I just got an email that forum advertiser is back again.



So now I am thinking of reviving my writing forums again.



But this time I need help from you guys for opinions as I am trying to move away from story in the word medium but also attract artists as stories are not limited to just the book medium alone.



My old forum's failure lies in the lack of supporters and also perhaps lack of people who know about it.

my old forums was based on writing stories. I think that was the problem.



So I am thinking that instead on of just writing, I can add another focus like anime, These are stories as well. Characters that we care about. It's the same reason why a character live acted or drawn is well loved.



I believe perhaps if I shift the focus to fantasy characters from Asian drama to anime to books and movies. I think there should be more support than just focusing on writing.

Poems, stories, etc. - Even just writing on current events or opinions.

Now, my partner and I have discussed the failure of our forum. We both agreed that writing is too narrow a range of topics for people to discuss.



And yes many writers take inspiration from real events and also the works of others.



It can be from News to anime to movies. These stories are set out not just to make a quick buck, but to enrich our lives. As a budding Cg artist, I also enjoy visualizing or watching the stories in written and moving form. And did I mention that the reason why some games franchise continue to thrive, their back stories.....



Stories are not limited by medium.

From what ive seen, closing forums and reopening them always leads to low activity and people not coming back. Sometimes a fresh new board is what you need. Or maybe reinvent your current board with a new name / domain, theme, etc.

Oh no, I am not reopening my forum again.



I am remaking it in the another name and with a new focus.



But now that writing has become a secondary focus on this new forum. I am lacking ideas and supports on what to call it and what to put in it.



I believe my inexperience is what caused my failure in the first time.

Well, if you are going to cover everything--make it a general chat forum. If, as you say, people write about anything--they could write stories based on the video games that are discussed in your video game section.

Stories about tv shows--from your tv section.

and maybe stories based on news stories.



General chat gives people something to talk about, regardless of their interest. Good Luck.

The wider spectrum should attract more people.



But I think the focus is the story behind each art piece, to me something like a Tv drama is a well thought piece of art with a story behind it.



There will be a general chat section. But the main focus is the discussion of each fantasy. So it can't be just a general chat forum. Each time a scriptwriter types a word or conceptualizes a tv show or movie.



But now the issue is the name of this new forum.

you could also have it be a full fledged multi media forum for any freelance or with pay projects.



for example a person needs a voice cast for an animation he's making.



or perhaps singers for a song. or both voice cast and animators for a script. so anything at all media wise

That's what I'm planning on doing, is reinventing my forum. The only thing unique about it right now is the name. It's basically the same thing as everyone else has, really, otherwise. I might work on the updates in the next couple of weeks maybe.

I can try, but I've been busy in the real world too, so between my forum, moderation duties on another forum, and my real world job, I don't know how active I'll be able to be.

Yes. just make the appropriate forums. (I.E Requests.) in categories (I.E Music,Animation,Vocals,effects. Tutorials etc...) a spam board. a general discussion board announcement board a forum discussion board a few censors get a skin to make it look acceptable. Advertise, wait. and you'll be the owner of a forum of great help.

Find a host (that you can afford) get a domain, skin, and all the forums set up......and the main thing then would be advertise, advertise, advertise.....There are tons of forums to advertise on. Good luck.

Now the problem is what sections to put.

I wouldn't recommend using them. They will not allow you to get a backup of your forum which means it will be trapped there forever.
