Sad songs

"Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground" by 1920s Blue singer, Blind Willie Johnson, who was a child when his stepmother threw lye in his face, blinding him, after she was beaten by Willie's father. He died penniless of pneumonia after sleeping bundled in wet newspapers in the ruins of his house that burned down. When he went to the hospital for the pneumonia that killed him, he was turned away because he was poor and black.

The only thing I could think of right away was this song.
A number of years ago I was on a business trip driving across Western Ireland and I was up going through a mountain pass when this song came of the radio.
I had to pull over the car to cry.
