Actually many people prefer sales tax to income tax.

No I don't think it's necessary but the government does. Any which way they can get you they do.

You should see the malls around here when it's free sales tax day. There are vehicles lined up (no joke) for miles to take advantage of this. Some people go so far as to drive their RV's and camp out waiting for the doors to open. Should it be abolished...heck yes. In todays economy a store or business owner needs every dime to keep their business afloat. Any wonder why stores close and people are unemployed? Well, we can thank our government for that.

If you don't want any social services, Medicare, EMS, Firefighters, Public Education, a military that protects you, Ambulances, an Infrastructure, National Parks, Community Parks, or Mass Transit to name a few then yeah the sales tax is unecessary.
