I use Windows Vista. My computer has a slot on the front for SD cards. It reads the other SD card (Kingston Brand) I have but it wont read the SanDisk SD card I have. Any tips on how to get my computer to recognize the SanDisk SD card?

My camera is broke, otherwise I'd just get the pictures that way.

I'd likely have to know more if the above doesn't help (make sure Windows isn't hiding any drives, files, or folders; it does that sometimes). Did you format the SD Card before use? Is it formatted for the to be readable by NTFS? If you used it in a Mac, or some other device, the local device could've formatted it to a different protocol (Macs use a different one).

Do you get a particular error message? Actually now that i think of it, the drive is going to be readable, but the media won't, that's your problem, right?

While they are different brands, are they also different types? Is this one that isn't reading a newer card? Your drive might not be able to read it, particularly if it is a HC card. It could also be, that unfortunately, the card is just dead.

My reply on another forum

Some older memory card readers can't read SDHC cards.

Yeah its a SDHC card & my computer is like 4 years old. So thats probably my problem.

My brother has all sorts of fancy gadgets, I'm sure I can use something of his to get the damn pictures off this stupid card.
