Think Progress: Senator - ‘We All Get Killed Back Here At Home’ If Obama Doesn’t Send Combat Troops Back Into Iraq

Excerpt...
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) blasted President Barack Obama’s plan to defeat ISIS during an appearance on Fox News Sunday, calling the commander-in-chief “disingenuous and delusional” and warning that Americans will be “killed here at home” unless he sends ground troops into Iraq and Syria to defeat the terrorist threat.

Comparing the estimated 30,000 ISIS fighters to the Nazis, Graham warned that “this idea we’ll never had any boots to defeat them in Syria is fantasy.” He argued that given the growth of the “radical Islamic army” and its control of territory in northern Iraq and Syria, “it’s going to take an army to beat a army.” “This is ISIL versus mankind,” he said, using another acronym for the group.

“To destroy ISIL, you have to kill or capture their leaders, take back their territory, cut off the finances and destroy the capability to regenerate. This is a war we’re fights not a counter terrorism operation,” Graham continued. “This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed back here at home.”

Is it just me or is Sen. Graham just one big political bedwetter?:mad:
Thoughts?

Perhaps the Senator had just seen the images that the US media will not show of Islamic State forces actually crucifying so called infidels and suspected spies. Besides the various beheadings of hostages, and mass executions of captured soldiers.

Of course ISIL/ISIS just wants to join with us in singing some old camp songs.

Its' not that, Doc; we've all seen the images andl heard the news of what ISIS is doing over there in Iraq and Syria....but, no - and I apologize for the rant about to come here - my problem's w/Lindsay Graham (along w/John McCain, come to think of it) who seems to think that everytime something happens in the Middle East, the first thing we need to do is put heavy combat forces on the ground. That man - and I use that term very loosely - is oh-so-eager to see America expend our blood & treasure in every foreign land around, no matter the cost, no matter the sacrifice...but then, when those brave and honorable men and women come back from Iraq, it'll be just like Sen. Graham to tell them, "I'm sorry, we don't have the money to spend for veterans' care or for helping you resume whatever it was that you were doing that you had to put on hold", etc.,etc...:mad:

As far as this American, sir, is concerned, if Lindsay Graham, John McCain and some of their fellow chickenhawks are so - apologies for the language here - damn eager for us to go rushing off to war again in Iraq, let them be the first to go. :@

Never assume a rational reason based on intelligence or logic when dealing with US Politicians.

As far as ISIS, I don't think the threat can be overstated.

They Are Coming, it is just a matter of when.

14 Sept

Breitbart Texas recently published a leaked intelligence report from the Texas Department of Public Safety that was distributed to federal agencies and indicated that ISIS members or supporters were known to be discussing the potential use of the porous U.S.-Mexico border as a means of secretly entering the United States. In the immediate aftermath of that report, experts and pundits erupted into disagreements about whether ISIS would take advantage of the open U.S.-Mexico border instead of utilizing air travel and whether Mexican cartels would actually risk shutting down valuable illicit trade routes by working with Middle Eastern terrorists. The potential for radical and extremist Mexican-based anti-Israel or anti-U.S. political groups to either work with ISIS or engage in extremism was not part of the public discourse.

Oh, I've long lost the thought that most of our elected officials, regardless of which end of Pennsylvania Avenue they're on, are capable of rational thought. Case in point: the GOP the Tea Party.

I look at ISIS in the following manner, Doc....
--Are they an immediate threat to U.S. interests in the region & the interests of our allies? Yes, most definitely and we do need to - and are - do/doing something to stop them, in concert with our allies in the region and with other Western powers.
--Are they an immediate threat to the United States homeland? Not at the moment, but that doesn't mean we should take our eyes off of them.... unlike the previous administration, who seemed to blow off every warning of note in the weeks prior to 9/11 that al-Qaeda was plotting attacks against the U.S..

In essence, we should at least be glad that Pres. Obama is taking a page from Bush-the-Elder's playbook: rather than rush in, we're building a broad coalition and planning what needs to be done so that when we do in, we can - to borrow Calgary Cruz's remarks - bomb ISIS back to the Stone Age.

One thing, how many of those "tea partiers" that were elected last time around are now running for re-election and thusly have turned into exactly what they campaigned against?

You gotta love it.

While you listed the "far right" as an example, you seem to have forgotten about the "far left", to whom Nancy Pelosi caters with idiotic rants of her own.

And, one has to wonder about a coalition where most of the members spend a lot of their time threatening each other. But, I guess that's life in the Middle East.

Sure, Doc..:whistle::whistle: ...and these same people would be that stupid to leave their Korans' and prayer rugs in the dirt, given how offensive the average Muslim would consider those actions...:whistle:
*adds w/deadpan snark* ...then again, considering the news source above, nothing surprises me when it comes to Texas anymore...
