What is socially acceptable, that you actually wish wasn't socially acceptable?

:|

Throwing cigarette butts all over the place, especially in parks and public places. They don't biodegrade, they smell, and they choke wildlife.

The other thing I can't stand is people spitting chewing tobacco where people have to walk.

That isn't socially acceptable. People just do it because they are jerks.

Chewing of gum because I hate the smell of spearmint.

On a more serious, controversial level, having children out of wedlock.

Asking people to change seats, move down , etc. We have gone early to get seats for one of our kid's band concerts for instance. Maybe we sit on the end or in the middle, then things start to fill up. And then some family comes in ,last minute sees, a seat or two between us and someone else or and then say "oh can you move over"?
Um, I came early to pick exactly the seats that I want to have.

Whenever I shop for groceries, if I see someone who is stopped in the aisle trying to select a product, can of peas or whatever, I stay back and patiently wait or I just go around to another aisle to come back. But, whenever I stop to look at a can of peas, inevitably someone just has to zoom up and say EXCUSE ME!! and reach right across me and get into my personal space. I waited MY TURN so why don't you wait YOURS? Sheesh

Lol at the gum one.

As for the children out of wedlock, I had a child out of wedlock. She is a full grown adult now and doing just fine. She had a great childhood too. What did I do wrong exactly?

Having your device 's volume turned up to max in a restaurant.

YES, yes! A thousand times yes! I hate that.

I've been asked that before, my answer is "NO!" ...but then they sit next to me / around and its all awkward the whole show. But if I had moved then I'd be in the seat I didn't want so I would still be unhappy. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've been guilty of that (reaching across people and getting in their personal space). I've literally seen someone staring at the cans of corn for like 10 or 15 minutes before. I know which one I want so I am just going to grab it real quick and move on. They can stand their for 3 hours making that difficult decision on which brand of corn to get after I leave. :P

You are never wrong, Nebulous. I just have very high standards. My late niece said I would never get a man even if I wanted one because my standards are impossible.

I don't blame you. It's difficult to find the right person. If you don't find that person, there's nothing wrong with going it alone.

True, Wessel. I've never wanted a relationship because I value my freedom, took a long time to obtain it and because of my mental health issues.

People who smoke.... yes judge me all you want :p
I almost agree except I think people should be able to do whatever they want to their own bodies. Just do in a place where nobody else has to smell it. :P

I agree with this!

I completely agree with this! My parents are smokers, and of course they're allowed to smoke in their own house if they so wish to. However, I always have to change my clothes after visiting them since they reek of cigarette smoke.

Devices being turned up too loud in a place like hospitals and schools...shouldn't be socially acceptable.

OMG YES! I hate that. Last time I was out to eat (fast food place) this guy had his phone up full volume listening to some crappy music that nobody else wanted to hear. He was one of those types that were like "I wish someone would tell me to turn my shit down!" ....always looking for a confrontation. I just got up and left.

That's how I am all the time with random people in places... "OH MY GOD, just go away around or turn it down or off for the matter". I do it a lot in places like that.

Yep, pretty much how I am. My parents home, so they can smoke inside all they desire. Does not stop my clothing smelling like it though sadly. I think that was an issue a few times in high school and even at my first job. Got asked if I smoked.
