How big is too big?

Do you have limits on your forums?

i think it's too big if it stretches the screen, i had a member on my suikocross that had the banner to his forum in his sig and it stretched the screen. i belive he changed the size without me saying anything, he only has about 7 posts so it's a bit hard to find him on the forum.

Signature sizes don't really bug me, as long as they don't take up the whole page

Since it don't bug me I wouldn't have any limits on forums if I was running one.

Same here. If it's a seriously big image, then I'll either ask the member in question to either downsize it or please remove it, or else I'd remove it myself. It all depends.

I think our limit is 400x200. I think that huge signatures can put people off from registering. Although members can disable signatures in their preferences, so it shouldn't

Were pretty fair here but we do things on a case by case basis. If a signature feels to large, I will send a PM or edit their signature myself.

I believe over on my site the current size is 500x200. I don't like when signatures take over the screen or take attention away from posts being made. I think big signatures can look sloppy at times too.

I seen on one forum the limit was 7 lines (whatever that meant; only cuz how do you consider lines with images).

The signature limit at my forum is 500x100. However, I let people over all the time. For example, I know one member has a signature with a height of 150px. I decide on signatures on a case by case basis, but I try not to be over-zealous about the rule. Along those lines, I wouldn't want to be like that moderator at the phpBB.com support forum who drove a contributive member away because he wouldn't let that person have a signature that was 1px over the allowed width.
