Some riot sentences 'too severe'

Some of the sentences given to those involved in last week's riots in England are criticised as too harsh by MPs and campaigners.

Can't help but agree with that. Harsh sentences aren't going to solve anything right now. If anything, it'll make them more bitter and angry at a society they're already rioting against.

I agree with handing out tough sentences for those involved in the riots. If you want to incite riots and engage in criminal activity, then you should pay the consequences.

I don't think those sentences are any harsher than

eviction notices actually. At least when those rioters

get out of prison they will have a home to go back to.



If the loss of benefits idea is used too, well again,

those in prison will still get fed etc and will probably

be able to reclaim their benefits when they get out.



I think any punishment that may act as a deterrent is

welcome.
