Spanish is harder than I thought. Hardest part is the pronunciation of words. I epically fail at saying words in Spanish, so it's been hard so far. Has anyone took Spanish before? It's difficult.

Does your Spanish teacher have a southern accent?

That would be funny to hear.

I did alright in Spanish. Its not that hard when everyone else is the minority and Mexicans are the majority. Everyone speaks Spanish and everything (signs in public, etc) is written in Spanish and in English. Some times I go to places and the people that work there dont even know English. Glad I have some Spanish skills to help me out in those situations.

I can imagine the pronunciation is difficult for someone who has English as his native language. I haven't tried Spanish personally, I had enough of romanic languages after 8 years of French.

Yeah, I took Spanish, and am pretty decent at it - good enough to speak it in Spain, Mexico and a few Central American nations. I think you'll find it's actually not too difficult, but getting over the first 'hump' is always the hardest. Keep at it. You need to develop a rhythm, or a muscle memory, so to speak, but soon it will come a lot quicker. Spanish is one of the easier languages to learn, trust me. Learning some Latin can help, too, at least in my experience.

Spending time practicing the words in front of a mirror (I know your teacher told you this a couple of days ago, but they're not kidding, it really works), and if you can (on your computer) record yourself and playback what you are saying until you get a better pronunciation, you'll find it gets easier. As for how you sound, though. Don't worry too much about that, as instead you should focus on getting the general syntax down. If you go to speak Spanish in Spain, or Mexico, etc. - they're going to expect that you speak with an accent - your purpose is an understanding, not to sound like a native (consider that many people from foreign nations don't speak English with a perfect Britannic/American accent).

It's like learning anything new, riding a bike, the guitar, etc. It seems really hard in the beginning, it's like exercise - it seems like you ran a mile when you've only run a few-hundred feet, but soon enough, it'll come much easier and like second-nature. Best of luck with your Spanish studies.

I only know how to count to 5 and say water, thank you and no XD

Learning languages is hard. But take the advice of Durandal and your teacher, and just practice. It's how I learnt German (even though it's not Spanish but you get what I mean XD)

I also found Spanish difficult. I wound up placing an ad on the bulletin board for a tutor. This girl who spoke fluent Spanish helped me and we became great friends.

My bosses at work are both Spanish. They can be pretty hard to understand at the best of times. Course, they've only been here for... three years, I believe, so I'm sure it'll be a while before we all can understand them completely. The husband is relatively easy to understand as far as accents goes, but the wife's accent is really thick, so she's actually harder to understand than he is. I remember one morning at work, I was vaccuming the hallway, and all of a sudden the handle started busting on me. I reported it to her, and she had to repeat herself three times before I finally figured out what she was on about. She was trying to tell me to bring the vaccuum cleaner over so she could take a look at it and find out what's up, but I couldn't understand her for anything at first. Finally I added 2 and 2 together, and with a co-workers help, we were able to haul the vaccuumm down to the main office (well, we always work on the bottom floor). So I don't blame you because I even have a tough time understanding it.

It would be like speaking Italian in Inglorious Bastards!

The pronunciation is really the toughest part. I studied it for 4 months. The main thing is that you need someone to talk it in daily basis. That way you will remember better.
